Brooke & Mark's Engagement Session

I've known Brooke since she was little. She's my best friend's cousin. I was so happy when she asked me to do her pictures. We had a lot of fun & they turned out AMAZING! (well at least, i think so!) :) I played with the color of the photos on the Adobe Lightroom software. I learned that the Adobe website offers a one month free trial to download!

My Children are My BEST Models! :o)

I think I've trained my kids well in front of a camera, LOL! While my daughter was at summer school, I took my son to Northwest River Park to try out my camera. From this session, I learned: Never wear a bright yellow shirt in a wooded area where there might be bees! Our time was cut short at the park because the bees would NOT leave me alone, LOL! :o) Here are a few shots from last summer when I first learning how to work my camera:

Isn't the background amazing in this picture!

Engagement Portraits

Amber recommended me to a friend of hers. Meet Danielle & Jeff! I met them last summer at the Lesner Bridge in VA Beach. It was a nice setting, but boy, was it a HOT day! We ended up taking all of our pictures under the bridge! I learned to never take pictures again during the middle of the day, especially in summer, because it is too hot and the sun causes squinty eyes!!! So for now on it's early mornings, late afternoons, or cloudy days for portraits. :o) I did get some really good shots though!

Bridal Portraits

Well, Miss Amber really enjoyed her engagement photos & asked if I would mind taking her bridal portraits. How could I turn that down? I had so much fun taking her last photos & thought, why not! So, my hubby surprised me a few days before the shoot with a nice digital SLR camera. I had given it some thought that maybe the whole photography thing could be my side job during the summer...one day, maybe I'll have my own studio....you never know. So, I was so excited about getting my new Nikon & could not wait to take Amber's portraits! We went to Regent University...it was the perfect setting! I have so many favorites. It was so hard to choose which ones to post!

My First Shoot...

I have always had an interest for photography. My sister has always insisted that I go professional, but I chose my career as a kindergarten teacher, which is my absolute passion right now. I LOVE working with children, especially those who are really in need.

But photography is a lot of fun and is so beautiful! I am starting this blog with my very first shoot:

Last year, a good friend of mine was visiting me and happened to be looking through my photo album. She saw some really good shots of the kids & my family at the beach and asked who did them. I told her I did, and well, she asked me to take her engagement photos. So we took a trip down to First Landing State Park. I used a regular digital camera. Here are a few...

I had a lot of fun taking these shots! Amber, thank you so much for asking me to take your pics! I think I did a good job for my first time! I was proud of myself. :o)
